The difference between narrow AI and general AI lies in their scope and capabilities. Narrow AI, also known as weak AI, is designed to perform specific tasks or functions within a limited domain. It is focused on solving particular problems and lacks the ability to generalize its knowledge or transfer its skills to other domains. Examples of narrow AI include voice assistants like Siri or Alexa, recommendation systems, and image recognition software.
On the other hand, general AI, also known as strong AI or artificial general intelligence (AGI), refers to AI systems that possess human-like intelligence and can understand, learn, and apply knowledge across various domains. General AI is capable of performing any intellectual task that a human being can do. It can reason, understand natural language, learn from experience, and adapt to new situations. However, the development of true general AI is still a theoretical concept and has not been fully achieved yet.
