The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is an intergovernmental body within the United Nations system responsible for promoting and protecting human rights around the world. It is composed of 47 member states elected by the UN General Assembly and meets regularly to address human rights issues, review the human rights records of member states, and make recommendations for action.
