The impact of energy resources on acid rain is significant. Burning fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, releases sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) into the atmosphere. These pollutants react with water, oxygen, and other chemicals to form sulfuric acid and nitric acid, which then fall back to the Earth as acid rain.
