The controlled-U gate, also known as the controlled unitary gate, is a fundamental gate in quantum computing. It is a two-qubit gate that applies a specific unitary operation U on the target qubit, conditioned on the state of the control qubit. If the control qubit is in the state |1⟩, the gate applies the unitary operation U to the target qubit. If the control qubit is in the state |0⟩, the gate leaves the target qubit unchanged.
